Children's Dentistry

At Grace Dental Care, we believe that every child deserves a positive start to their dental journey. Our warm, friendly team specialises in kids’ dentistry, offering gentle care in a space designed to make young patients feel safe, calm, and even excited to come back.

Whether it’s their very first visit or a return for a check-up or filling, our mission is to make each appointment a fun, empowering experience that sets them up for lifelong oral health.

Why Kids’ Dental Care Matters

Early dental visits are more than just a check-up - they’re the start of healthy habits for life.

  • Catch problems early before they become big (and expensive)
  • Build familiarity and confidence in a dental setting
  • Support kids’ physical development, including speech, chewing and jaw alignment
  • Prevent future anxiety around dental care
  • From teething babies to adventurous teens, we’re here every step of the way.

When Should My Child First See a Dentist?

Your child’s first dental visit should happen:

  • When their first tooth appears, or
  • Around their first birthday

Early visits allow us to:

  • Check for early signs of tooth decay
  • Provide brushing and feeding guidance
  • Build a trusting relationship with your child
  • Support positive associations with oral care

What to Expect at Your Child’s Appointment

For Little Ones

  • Fun “chair rides” and tooth counting
  • Gentle introductions to tools and routines
  • Education for parents on teething, brushing, and dummy habits

For School-Aged Kids & Teens

  • Full dental exam & clean
  • Fissure sealants and fluoride treatments
  • White, mercury-free fillings if needed
  • Monitoring for orthodontic concerns
  • Oral hygiene coaching tailored by age

Helping Nervous Kids (And Parents) Feel at Ease

Dental anxiety is common, and we’re ready for it. Our team takes extra time to explain things in kid-friendly language, offer lots of reassurance, and never rush an appointment.

Here’s how you can help too:

  • Bring a comfort toy or blanket.
  • Use positive language (e.g. “the dentist will help your teeth sparkle”).
  • Book visits when your child is rested and calm.
  • Read a fun book or watch a cartoon about visiting the dentist beforehand.

Together, we’ll help your child feel proud and brave.

We Bulk Bill Through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

Eligible children aged 2–17 can access up to $1,052 in dental services every two years through Medicare’s CDBS.

Covered services include:

  • Exams and cleans
  • X-rays and fillings
  • Fissure sealants and fluoride
  • Extractions and basic root treatments

How to check for CDBS eligibility?

To check your child's eligibility for the CDBS, visit the Services Australia website.

Child-Friendly Care, Tailored to Each Smile

We treat everything from common habits to complex cases:

  • Early childhood cavities
  • Thumb-sucking or dummy-related issues
  • Dental trauma from sports or accidents
  • Enamel defects or “chalky” teeth
  • Support for children with special needs or medical complexities

Our team is trained to meet kids where they’re at—emotionally and developmentally—so they feel seen, safe, and supported.
